Ring workshop with Joshua Mysczynski

Join us on Saturday 12 February for a lost wax ring carving workshop with jeweller Joshua Myszczynski. Activities start at 2pm and participants are welcome to dip in and out, listen, exchange and carve at their own pace, until 5pm.

Workshop summary

• Participants will be provided a wax section (pre-cut and ready to carve) & all carving tools.

• Participants will experiment and learn how to carve wax (we recommend staying at least for one hour) and they will be taught a few tricks and techniques. If participants have some skills already and want to experiment carving a model with a stone they can bring their own stones and Joshua will assist.

• At the end of the workshop each participant will finish with their own ring model, which you can then cast. Please note: San Mei Gallery will not manage the casting logistics, and participants will have to pay for the casting of their ring (from £10-£90); the cost will be depending on the ring weight. We will give recommendations on where to cast and explain how it works!

• No carving skills necessary! But if you do, it’s a nice way to learn some news skills and practice with other.

The workshop has been organised in conjunction with our current exhibition not yet. Join Associate Curator Ludovica Bulciolu an hour before the workshop for Curator’s Tour of the exhibition.
