Vinyl Memories: Listening to Records
Saturday 15 October, 4-7pm
Bring your vinyl records for a collective listening event at San Mei Gallery on the last day of Roxane Mbanga’s exhibition NOIRES.
Taking place in and amongst Mbanga’s installation, this event is open to everyone to share music that matters to them, and aims to encourage intergenerational and cross-cultural dialogue through collective listening and storytelling. * Should you not have music to share, music will be provided by Vinyl Memories.
Vinyl Memories is hosted by local community organiser Michelle Killington, who has hosted a number of listening events in Brixton over the last four years, keeping music culture of the BAME community alive.
This event will be taking place during Black History Month and we'll be placing emphasis on music for and from the Windrush Generation. DJs Selector M and Alexander.B will be sharing some classics from Studio One, Reggae, Soul and Funk.
This event is organised in conjunction with NOIRES, the current exhibition by Roxane Mbanga at San Mei Gallery. This exhibition and accompanying public programme is supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England and Fluxus Arts Projects.
