Writers Minying Huang and Sam Watkins will lead an evening writing workshop and open discussion in response to Ruoru Mou’s exhibition Leftover Linings at San Mei Gallery.
The workshop takes Ursula Le Guin’s oft-cited text ‘The Carrier Bag Theory of Fiction’ (1986) as a starting point to think about our interactions with objects in space and time, through a series of writing exercises.
Set within the exhibition at San Mei Gallery, the session will explore the poetics of tools and the material vessels of culture, and how these are integrated into our lives in a direct and porous way, with wet cupped hands, ships sailing on seas, and moons lifted out of the water.
