San Mei Gallery is pleased to present Serenade of the Woods, a musical performance by Beibei Wang, a London-based virtuoso multi-percussion soloist, in conjunction with our current exhibition Symphony Zero by Lisa Chang Lee.

For this event, Beibei Wang will perform a musical score using organic objects as percussion instruments, as well as some of the artworks featured in the exhibition, including Lisa Chang Lee's bronze sculptures. This one-off live interpretation of the score is a unique chance to see Beibei Wang improvising alongside Lisa Chang Lee's audio-visual installation, which itself is constructed by algorithmically transforming the movement of plants into musical scores.

To maintain COVID-19 safety, the performance will be divided in two sets, both sets are unique and will last approximately 25 minutes each. We warmly recommend that you book one slot per person only, in order to give to other visitors the chance to participate.

Beibei Wang is a London-based international virtuoso multi-percussion soloist who has been rising meteorically in the classical music world. Beibei tours around the world and performs worldwide with numerous elite conductors, orchestras and artists. Her musical sensibility of Chinese heritage and Western avant-garde influences serve her mission to challenge herself in every concert. By exploring new possibilities and challenging assumptions from all fields, she and her collaborators have developed genre-defying projects, pushing boundaries and delighting audiences the world over.
