C0034: The Gargantuan Shoe
Saturday 29 May 2021, 2 - 6 pm
(Booking essential)
San Mei Gallery is pleased to present C0034: The Gargantuan Shoe, a performance and installation by Luca Calu Bosani.
On 29 May, Bosani will stage a mysterious and playful investigation around a giant, gargantuan, sonic shoe. Questioning the boundaries between reality and fiction, exploring identity as a social and moral construct, the artist will become a magic reality investigator, trying to understand how and why a huge black shoe suddenly appeared in the gallery space.
The durational performance will have limited capacity and it will unfold continuously over four hours with viewing slots at every half hour. Viewing slots can be booked here.
A series of UPOs (Unidentified Performative Objects) will be on display in the gallery alongside the gargantuan shoe.
Luca Bosani’s practice is an ongoing exploration of the fluid and complex nature of identity, via the melting of performance, sculpture, painting and costume design. Their Conundrum series started in the summer 2020, at the end of lockdown, when the artist quitted their lecturer position at City of Westminster College, London to fully dedicate themselves to private investigations of the real. The Gargantuan Shoe is the C0034: it will only be shown once, at San Mei Gallery alongside their ongoing series of sculptural objects, also known as UPOs (Unidentified Performative Objects).
With CJ Calderwood and Oli Haylett.
